I'am using Alphastation 255 for process control . It comes with a 4.3 GB harddisk which is now making terrible noise after many years of operation . I tried backup/image dka100: dka200: to a 18 GB target disk . After completion i tried booting copy by Boot dka200 .
The system goes on a infinite very slow read cycle after normal startup echoes " loading network base image .... ".
Now i tried :

1- An old 4.3 GB harddisk and 8.5 GB harddisk using same command . The copies are good and working . I further tried 40 GB and 73 Harddisks but they have same problem as 18 gb one .

2- I attached not working harddisk copies to my emulator on Win2K3 server and copied it to an image file on local disk . Booting on emulator was no problem. I only get stuck with licenses issues . Rest is working fine .I even tried to restore
one blank 4.3 GB harddisk from emulator image . This copy works fine on Alphastation so copy process on 18/40/73
gb Harddisk is fine . Just they are not booting completely on alphastation.
CAN SOMEBODY IN THE WORLD TELL ME HOW TO USE > 8.58 gb HARDDISKS ON ALPHASTATION 255 AS OLDER MODELS ARE NO MORE AVAILABLE . OLDER HARDDISKS ONLY COMES FROM SCRAP YARD AND THEY DONT WORK FOR LONGER PERIODS ???

Contact Nemonix Engineering who can supply suitable disks (made of new parts but emulate older models).
