I have three computers hooked up wirelessly to a NetGear WGR614v4 wireless G router. I have two notebooks connected with motorola wireless G pcmcia cards and a P4 desktop hooked up with a motorola wireless G pci card. The desktop and one of the laptops have XP Pro; the other laptop has XP Home.

My cable modem is the only direct connection to the router. All three computers can connect to the internet just great; no problems. The problem is when I try to share files or play games between computers. All three are part of the MSHOME workgroup. Sometimes they all show up in the "View Workgroup Computers" window, sometimes they don't. When they do, it's often a tossup on whether I'll actually be able to connect to the remote computer. It tells me that I do not have the proper permissions. I have checked the file sharing settings on all three and verified that I have allowed file sharing with everyone. XP Firewalls have been disabled.

I was successfully sharing files last night, but the network was running horribly slow. It's funny how my computers can download huge files off the internet in seconds but take f o r e v e r when streaming content or copying files between themselves. Any help would be appreciated. I'm very confused.

Reply: (edit)

you have to install the "nwlink ipx/spx/netbios comp...." protocol if u wanna play game....

and delete a reg key
start>run>regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace

Under that branch, select the key :

{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}

and delete it.

if u have norton firewall.. u have to enable filesharing
