I have two computers in different rooms. I need to know what I need to buy in order for both to be on line sharing the internet, both computers were hooked up to the cable, but in different locations. I will cancel one account; get rid of the second modem. What exactly should I buy.

All you need is a Cable/DSL router. I did just that with Linksys BFSR41 4 port router. This router will act as a firewall as well, preventing unauthorize access to your network.
I have a cable connection with Blueyonder (UK). It cost me £62.00 at wwww.amazon.co.uk.
