I lack any ability to play online games. Whenever I start up a game (Team Fortress 2 for example), it seems that I'm able to find and see servers just fine. But after a few seconds, it almost seems like the connection stops completely. When I try to join a server, I get "Parsing Game Info" for an eternity until I'm told that "a connection couldn't be made to Steam VAC servers". I'm able to connect to Steam itself just fine, and can update my games, download demos, etc. I have a similar problem in other online games, though I'm able to connect to them on very rare occasions. This is a problem I've posted about previously, but I was able to resolve that problem by enabling DMZ on my router. Now, however, my connection has switched to a direct connection to a modem, and I have no idea what to do. Steam and Half-Life 2 are enabled in the firewall exceptions, and I've tried playing without a firewall completely. I'm using AVG, and I've also tried playing with that disabled. Can someone help me?

If this is a newer SOHO router, check through the management interface for "online gaming" settings.

It's a Comcast issued router and modem, and I'm hooked up directly to the modem, and I'm not connected to the router, because my computer can't use any wireless for some reason.
