Reply: (edit)So I assume, that your Router has also an IP of 192.168.0.x. But your server (10.0.0.10) could not access the Router (192.168.0.x). I also guess, if the workstations access the server via ipx protocoll. So the server has to be configured with an ip within the routers network (192.168.0.x), to be able to access the internet.

Reply: (edit)Thank you for your reply. A few more questions, where on the server can I change my IP address since I dont want to reload it. It takes over 1 hour to reload. And what should my subnet be if I am using 192.168.1.101 for my server. Is my Gateway address is my router IP? Is it 192.168.1.1? When loading Netware 6.5, I selected both IP and IPX, so I guess it is using IP on my workstation. Is my DNS server same as my Netware server address? I only have 1 server. THanks Paul

Reply: (edit)As you wrote, you are able to connect to the Internet with a workstation (IP: 192.168.0.30). So your workstation has the right information to go through the Internet. Check the network settings at the workstation like this: Open a DOS box and type in IPCONFIG /ALL Now you get the information you need to configure your server. E.g.: IP-Address: 192.168.0.30 Subnetmask: 255.255.255.0 Standard Gateway: 192.168.0.1 DHCP-Server: 192.168.0.1 DNS-Server: 192.168.0.1 If you get someting like this, your server must have an IP-Address out of the range from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254 (except 192.168.0.30, used by your workstation). You can change the network settings for the server at the console prompt with the command: inetcfg If the configuration is done, choose Reinitialize System. The will reinitialize your network card with the new configured settings.

Reply: (edit)I have changed my IP address on my server to 192.168.1.102 and then loaded Novell client on my XP workstation and can connect to serve, tree, etc. But many new problems: 1. My Netware Remote Manager on server cannot work now. Is it because IP has changed from 10.0.0.1 to 192.x.x.x 2. I still use iManager from workstation after type http://server_IP/nps/iManager.html, I have no idea why. 3. Server cannot use Internet , none of the Web links can work from ConsoleOne. 4. So I thought the server should be issuing DHCP and DNS for workstations rather than using my router to do it. Does these 2 services come with Netware Basic Server Installation? Or I need to load them ? And where can I setup them, like server is 10.0.0.2 and workstations 10.0.0.3, 10.0.0.4. Is my Gateway my router, 192.168.1.1? Thanks very much. Paul

Reply: (edit)John, 1. you have to reconfigure your WebManagers ip address with the new ip address 192.168.1.102 2. see 1. 3. in INETCFG | Protocols | TCP/IP | LAN Static Routing must be enabled Under LAN Static Routing Table, you have to configure DEFAULT ROUTE with NEXT HOP 192.168.1.1 (your Routers IP) Under DNS Resolver Configuration your have to configure the default DNS server: Name Server #1: 192.168.1.1 (your Router) ESC up to the main menu and the Reinitialize System 4. So you see, your Router is your DEFAULT Gateway. If you wonna setup your Novell Server as a DHCP and DNS server, you have to read the manual to do so.

Reply: (edit)I have loaded DNS/DHCP on my Netware server and on workstation loaded DNS/DHCP Management Console. However, how come when I set my workstation to automatic retrieve IP address and DNS, it cannot work. It shows 0.0.0. So my workstation cannot receive IP or the server cannot issue. How or where do I check? During setup in DNS, I put most things default, did not change much. Thanks.

Reply: (edit)1. If you have installed the DNS and DHCP services correctly, the commands for are is named.nlm and dhcpsrvr.nlm. 2. You have to setup the IP range and networkmask for your network. There must only be one DHCP server for one network. So, if your router is already configured as a DHCP server, you can get in trouble.

Reply: (edit)1. In the Server Configuration Report, do you know how I can run this report for only selected things like hardware. I dont need NLM, autoexec.ncf, and all the rest. Is there anyway to do this with Netware? Also, where do I run this server config report for Netware 5.1? 2. If I have 1 tree, but many different OU, and many servers, if I send a message out, will all OU receive or just to the users on my server? Thanks paul
