realized nothing attached to Firewire port was being recognized. Opened System Profile -- saying "No Information Found" for Firewire. Any possibilities of anything to do short of replacing the logic board (which I will not spend the money to do -- not worthwhile, the upper right of the screen is slowly fading away!)

If you're still stuck...
Try the Apple Hardware Test - will be on your original install discs or (if my memory serves me correctly) any OS installation CD/DVD
