Hi Guys,

I recently bought a secondhand powerbook 1400c/133. This is my first Mac and I have to say I'm impressed. I still want a G4 but this came up cheap so it will do until I can afford the G4.

The powerbook is running system 7.6.1
When I have bought some more RAM I will upgrade the OS. I think my problem is quite simple but I can't find the answer anywhere.

In the top left corner of the screen the apple icon has started to flash with a clock symbol. I guess this an alert, trying to tell me something but I can't think what.

Everything seems to be working as it did before. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rich

This is usually just a setting for some
software. Since it's a clock, check the date
and time control panel and see if it's in
there, or anything that relates to a time
control.

"Date & Time" control panel will have the appropriate setting you seek.

Thanks for your replies. I still cant find the reason for this flashing clock.

I've looked at the date/time control panel and everything seems correct. I have looked at all my applications and everything looks OK. I have even deleted some of my more recent software but to no avail. Every piece of software still works fine.

I apologise for my lack of knowledge at the moment. I have played around with the extensions and control panels, turning various ones off and on to see if that helps but still nothing.

I'll keep looking.

Cheers
Rich

You haven't got the old 'Alarm Clock' desk
accessory installed have you? (Under the
Apple menu if you have.) The flashing
clock icon used to mean the alarm has
gone off. Just opening the DA should stop
it flashing for now, until the alarm goes off
again.

No I don't appear to have the alarm clock accessory installed. Thanks anyway.

This is driving me nuts!

Now I'm really confused. The clock icon has disappeared!

I haven't done anything to correct it but it's gone anyway. I guess I'll never know what it was.

Thanks

I just installed System 7.6 on an old PowerBook and got the flashing clock icon too!
This started after I set Time & Date.

I had not installed "Alarm Clock" either But I grabbed a copy from another Mac, and as soon as I opened it, the flashing stopped.

Is this Magic?
