Comment:

I just installed Red Hat 9 on my laptop, and now I can't get my wireless card to work. I have the essid specified in wireless.opts, but it doesn't seem to be reading that file. As a hack, I put it in wireless as well, but that won't seem to set the essid either. so whenever I boot up the computer and go to iwconfig, the essid is set to "" and the nickname is "HERMES I" I have no idea what that is. How can I make my computer set the correct essid on boot? when I type iwconfig eth1 essid "my essid" it works.....

Thanks!
