Subject: What kind of File system i need
OS: Linux SuSE 8.2
CPU/Ram: P4 2,0 & 512 MB RIMM
Comment:

I want to install Linux of SuSe version 8.2. But i would like to know what file system I have to choose? There are many different FS, like: ext2, ext3, jfs, XFS or ReiserFS. Which one should i choose, and why?

And/or,
Maybe someone can give me a link to a site where all those file systems are explained?

All the filesystems are equally good. I prefer ext3 (it is basically ext2 + a journal). Other people prefer reiser because its very fast with small files. XFS is still untested and I don't recommend it right now, even though it may turn out to be a great filesystem in the future.

Ext3 is better than ext2 because of the journal (you don't have to do checks even after an improper reboot)
