I installed Redhat on a second drive, windows xp being on the first drive. After installation and reboot, I get a Grub Read Error message immediately after the Dell splash screen and then nothing. I've booted the windows reinstall CD, brought up the recovery console and have done both a fixmbr and fixboot but to no apparent affect. I still get the grub error message. My windows partition is still present so I don't think I've overwritten it. I also disconnected the second drive and rebooted but I still have the same message so I know its coming from my first drive.

Any ideas on what I can try next?

Never mind. I solved my issue. It turns out that the fixmbr command requires an argument which is the disk to be repaired. The help info implied this was optional and that the book drive would be fixed in that case. Hence, I was issuing the command but it wasn't doing anything.
