I work with a lot of laptops (repair a lot of laptops). Often I get them without a power supply, which makes it difficult to troubleshoot :)

I was hoping that there might be a universal laptop power supply which has interchangeable tips and a selectable voltage. I've found several (Targus makes one for example), but unfortunately, the voltage rages seem to limited, and the tips to few to support many laptops.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good universal laptop power supply?

RT,

There are some available but IME they're not worth the trouble. Considering the wide variety of Laptop Models/Hardware on the market, I don't see how anything could possibly be considered truely "Universal".

One Qualifier, I'm only speaking of the supposed "Universal PS" on the Retail Market. I suspect it's possible that one could be found by checking in the Catalogs for Professional Computer Technicians.

Probably better off to set availability of the Power Supply as a prerequsite for accepting a Laptop into your Shop. Could also prevent some Liability issues if the Customer provides a compatible PS.

Just an Idea.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
