i'm having immense difficulties re-installing the USB sound interface Mobile-pre from m-audio. The software installs just fine, the icon for the Mobile-pre comes up, but the computer won't run it. Everytime I boot up the New Hardware wizard comes up and searches for the driver, but cannot find it. I've even downloaded new drivers from the M-audio website, but the wizard can't find those either, no matter where I put them. This happened once before, when I had to move the computer; when I disconnected the USB, the computer stopped recognizing the mobile-pre. I managed to re-install the driver then, with great difficulty, but now the USB got accidentally connected again and I can't remember how I did it last time. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Dude...could you try the following steps

A) Try to first remove the USB audio device.Remove all drivers and software appplications that came bundled with the product.Restart the sytem

B)Try removing all the USB devices connected to your system if you have any and just connect the USB audio device. If a "NEW HARDWARE FOUND WIZARD "pops, don't do anything.Just try installing the software alone by using the CD or the downloaded version of the Drivers.

C)Before the start of the system, go to BIOS and check "LOAD BIOS DEFAULTS" or "LOAD DEFAULTS". At times there will USB issues within the motherboard

D)Try to use the USB audio device attached to another PC/system and see if it works or not

E)Try to use a USB powered hub for your USB device.Usually USB audio devices like the one you have need more USB power to drive the mechanics inside the audio system.I had one of Creative AUDIGY 2zs VIDEO EDITOR which required me to install in a USB powered hub because it draws a separate power from the main supply and not my system.

F)Backup your data, and if possible..try to format the system

Hope it helps.Just a word of thought !

Best of luck ...Post your reply!
