ShAzMaNiAc,

Can you check on the following areas

A)Make sure the audio jumpers on the motherboard is in the correct position. If possible, refer to the manual of the motherboard to verify the settings

B)Are the speakers you using is working and powered on.Check out in another computer,if possible

C)Try to remove all expansion cards example modem,DVB-cards etc.Just install the video card thats all and then check the sytem.

D)Have you connected to the right ports of the computer.

E)Is the audio device built-in on the motherboard or is it a PCI card?

F)Try to remove all drivers from the device manager and extra software you might have installed and reboot.See if windows detects it or not.

G)Motherboard could be faulty or the PCI card whichever you have

H)If it is a PCI card, remove and reinstall. If possible try using different set of speakers

I)Remove the PCI card,if it is one,Try to reinstall windows,if possible and don't try installing the drivers at the start of the computer.Soon after windows finish installing,Shutdown the PC,insert the card and then boot system.See if windows recongnizes it or not.

I hope above areas you can give a shot

Take care.Post your reply!

Adding again to the previous post,Just make sure that no other plugs are connected to your motherboard. Also make sure ,if you have any, that the digital audio plug from the CDROM is not connected to your system.

Take care

Did the drivers come on a disc with it? are you sure you trying correct drivers?
Reason I say this is because I recently bought a MSI mobo (KM4M-V) with no driver disc.
That model mobo clearly says on the MSI website that it has Realtek sound. But I could not get it working with those drivers from the MSI website.
On examining the mobo and looking at the sound chip, i found that it actually had VIA sound on it (like the KM3M-V, but i know it is not Km3M-V as it has the KM400 chipset, not KM266)
I do not know if MSI made a mistake on their site or if some of the mobos had VIA chips as they had run out of Realtek chips?
So check to see if your problem is same.I was about to return the mobo or instal PCI sound card before I spotted that.

Did you check device manager?

Make sure the onboard sound is enabled in the BIOS & that the speakers are plugged into the correct port. Check your volume settings

Masterofnone,

A)There are no audio jumpers its an on-board
sound device

B)Yes, the speakers do work and are powered on.

C)Only card installed is my video card.

D)Yes, They are connected to the right ports

E)It's built on

F)All drivers are removed, windows does detect it, but still no sound

G)Possibility...but unlikely seeing as it detects it

H)It's on-board

I)Again, it's on-board

well i've tried all those solutions and nothing. No Cliffpage it did not come with the driver disk unfortunately, and i've tried all different kind of audio drivers that might work but nothing. Yes Jam, i made sure that it's enabled, checked the volume and yes their plugged into the right port. Any other ideas that come to mind, i'm willing to try anything at this point in time. Thanks

ShAzMaNiAc,

Few more ideas ,just in case.

A)Motherboard could be a faulty one.Replace the motherboard through the process of RMA procedure.

B)I don;t know this, but if you can have a proper look on the onboard sound chip,if possible, note it down and post it here.

C)I came across this site, while searching for your problem. It is
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/ecs.htm

Over here, look for your motherboard and the model number.Next to it there is a description relating to SOUND AUDIO PATCH BIOS UPDATE.This step ofcourse involves flashing the BIOS and so be extremely careful.I feel this is the second last resort of trying...

Take care.Post your reply!

well...

A)I don't know what to do for the RMA procedure

B)I looked at the mobo and couldn't really see anything, so im not exactly sure what it is.

C)I've already flashed the BIOS successfully and that still did nothing.

I'm not gonna give up yet but if i have to im gonna have to get a new sound card, but keep throwing suggesstions this way. Thanks
