Dear Friends

I hav win 98 in harddisk A. Then i Fitted harddisk B and installed Win Xp.

MBR prompts me to select the type of OS to be Booted ie WIn 98 or Win Xp.

If i Select Win XP, it is loaded from Harddisk B.

I removed Harddisk B and fitted in another PC which consist of only this Harddisk.

Now while starting the PC it display Invalid Disk, But Win XP is installed in it.

How to Boot It.

Pls Submit ur suggestion promptly.

Thanx

Unfortunately not all of XP was installed on disk B when it was installed on the first computer. Part of the boot files were installed in disk A. That is the problem of Microsoft's multiboot. The fastest and best solution would be to do a clean reinstall of XP.

Also to add to wizaerd fred's post, If XP detects enough changes to the hardware (changing HD to a new computer with different mobo and/or cpu), it will not power up. In a nut shell, this is a saftey feature that M$ put in to prevent pirating of their SW.

When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

Also try msking a 98 startup disk and boot from it start the box w or w/o cdrom support at the prompt type fdisk/mbr.
I.E a:/fdisk/mbr

All win use the same master boot record.
