Subject: Can't get the monitor to boot up. OS: Win98SECPU/Ram: Sempron 2400+/256DDR |
Comment: Anyone out there having a a7n8x-LA mobo from HP with a Sempron 2400+ CPU THAT WORKIN? Mine won't start up and I have no connector on the mobo to plug in the case speaker??? Have replaced a old system and just wanted to give the PC a little more speed by buying a Sempron 2400+ with DDR 400 256MB RAm + the marvelous mobo that I discovered not have to many jumpers or connectors on it. When turn the PC on I have a sleeping monitor and can't get it to beep either due to lack of speaker connetor on the mobo. CPU fasn speed up and stay that way. Can resett the mobo by pushing the reset button so some reaction from that one. Please advices more than welcome.

Reply: (edit)I don't know if the 'LA' is very different but I've got a 'deluxe' and that's got a speaker already attached to the board - it's a small, round black plastic bit right next to the header pins for the front panel. "I know that I'm mad - I've always been mad..."

Reply: (edit)Hi there. It's a OEM version of the a7n8x-VM version. They have changed it quite a lot for being a OEM and apparently modified the BIOS as well!! If that is mounted on the mobo it does not say a pip when trying to start it. I guess the combination of this CPU, mobo and RAM is OK? The mobo should be able to run FSB333 at start up and the RAm would be able to synch on that spedd so.... I can add that the led on the CD-WR and DVD works fine and also the HD is spinning up. Can't find any LED's on the mobo to indicate its working though. /AO
