Reply: (edit)Does your USB work if its OK do this back up registry: Start Regedit In H__KEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cur rename the key "ProductName" from "Microsoft Windows XP" in "Microsoft Windows 2000" install the Mustek Driver for Windows 2000 Undo all the changes in the registry If the above doesn't work your scanner is at fault try it on another computer also try something on your USB to check that is OK before yo do above if the drivers for the USB are at fault come back Neil

Reply: (edit)Hi, I have the same scanner (Mustek 1200 UB Scanner) and went to Mustek's website (www.mustek.com) and downloaded the correct driver for windows xp. There were 5 files I needed to download, which solved the problem. However, does anyone know where I can download the software for it that is compatible with windows xp? Please let me know asap! Email your response to me at mspitz@optonline.net. Thanks a million! Sincerely, Marty Spitz

Reply: (edit)to Neil and Marty: downloaded the five file set from mustek. ran web.exe to install(which is first file). Win XP seemed to install drivers. the 1200 ub scanner shows up 1)under control panel>scanners and camera's -only delete and properties choices show when you open the icon].And, it "will" perform the dio test when you click the test button. 2) system>hardware>device manager>image device. device man says it is working ok but no driver is shown.[ all listed items show unknown] 3)start> My computer - does not show that scanner is installed even after hardware wisard reports that 1200 ub scanner is installed when you plug it into the USB port. 4) device man>USB controler>USB root hub- shows scanner active pulling 496 of 500 Ma of power off port Photo express Se does not see scanner as a twain device. went to windows/twain_32/1200UB/UI(twain user interface -SOHO plus, nine edition ver 2.6.1.0 844kb)and started it. you get the twain scanner program that does not scan when you press the scan tab Mustek tech spec Mike has been no help. I think he is a keyword search program. Please help if you can. system is a compaq 5401 desktop running WINXP. scanner worker fine on the compaq 5001 OS - Win ME which crashed thanks frank - TBSHComCenter@aol.com

Reply: (edit)to Neil, Marty and all. here is a program that will test your usb ports. Customers can download Intel USB diagnostic utility USBREADY.EXE from www.usb.org/data/usbready.exe. This utility will perform much more thorough diagnostics of the USB functionality including software, hardware and setup. hope it can be of help.
