How do I list a txt file from another drive ie
I am in C drive and the file is in on the D drive. I dont want to type the D drive I would like some kind of path search or default drive set up
so in short List d:\<filename>.txt works and List <filename>.Txt doesn't (unless I in th e drive). I want List <filename>.txt to work no matter which drive I am in

is it a Set command?

List?

What are you talking about?

Don't understand "List" either but you could try setting your path to allow a search on D: and any other partition. See here for the path syntax etc..

Valerie,

PATH is for executables. [com exe bat]

jboy,

List. as in list. By Vern Buerg. Use it every day. Helps build strong bodies 12 ways.

John,

AFAIK, there's no way around it.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

The question (1) is the 'filename.txt' always in 'D:\somedir\' or (2) is 'filename.txt' anywhere on the system?

There is no solution for the second.

For the first a batch containing 'list d:\somedir\filename.txt' somehere on your path. If the source directory is always fixed but the file is changeable 'list d:\somedir\%1', might be a solution

How does list filename.txt work from e: ?

Sure - I'm *more than a little* familiar with (the Classic) List by VdB

It remains to be seen if that's what is meant, or else another occasion where the OP using their own (quaint) terminology

If I had to guess (and that seems to be the case)... Append??
