How can you clean one of the hard drives "heads" (i guess you call it)
You can't clean hard drive heads. They are sealed within the hard drive. Opening the hard drive to get to the heads will ruin it. Any particle, no matter how small, that gets inside the hard drive will ruin it and that is why they are sealed tight.
because there are some finger prints on the head and I think it might be messing me up when I try and format the hard drive.
Fingerprints contain oils (as do all skin surfaces) and will ruin floppy disk surfaces. If you mean that you handled your hard drive exterior, that shouldn't be a problem.
So is there anything to clean it??
Hard drives weren't meant to be cleaned or opened. If yours needs cleaning then it's probably too late.
Sounds like you're going to need to get a new hard drive.
