Comment: I know that this is a DOS sound card. I don't know how to get it to work in DOS, though it works in windows 98. whenever I run it in DOS it says "Error #6: Sound blaster emulation disabled in windows. Driver not loaded" . Well, I've looked everywhere on my computer, and it doesn't ever have a program that involves sound blaster emulation! So i know it involves au30dos.ini, but whenever I try to configure it (namely SBFMbase to be 0x240) it just says "error #7: legacy I/O ports 388h-38Bh not available. Driver not loaded" does anyone know the solution to my problem?

Reply: (edit)Not sure what you mean by "I know that this is a DOS sound card." What exactly are you trying to do? If you're looking for drivers, try the Driver Forum. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)I'm trying to understand why I'm not able to get sound blaster emulation for this sound card. Maybe i didnt download the right software, but i downloaded at least 10 types of software for this driver, all pretty much the same. And all the drivers come with a program called "au30dos.com" which is supposed to set it up for real mode support. but I keep getting those errors. It doesn't make sense though, cuz the sound cards right in there in my computer... and it works with windows 98...

Reply: (edit)When you say you can't get it to work in Dos do you mean you're opening a dos window or do you mean you're shutting down and restarting in msdos mode or are booting straight to dos? Disable PnP OS in cmos/bios setup. Or, in some cases it'll ask if you have a windows OS. Answer NO. If a PnP OS is enabled in cmos that will allow windows to change the resources to suit its needs. That can prevent dos drivers from loading.

Reply: (edit)It still says "error #6. Sound blaster emulation disabled in windows. driver not loaded" i know that it is infact involved with au30dos.ini, and I can't figure out what numbers I would have to put into the .ini file.

Reply: (edit)If you're wondering what I did, I had to set the au30dos.ini according to one i found on a russian website... it worked until i started windows, cuz windows would change the file back to its orignal form, but once i set it to read only, it stopped changing, now I am able to play dos games with SB sound, thanks for trying, and if anyone needs the .ini file please dont hesitate to ask me, it can be done with a few simple changes

Reply: (edit)I don't think you can, unless you set up dos in a 'virtual PC' within XP. You're probably stuck with running everything from floppy disks and cds. Well, unless you just get an old PC and install dos on it. Then use it for the dos games.
