Hi hware
Try getting a universal cdrom drivers they
work with most cdroms and try the syntax below.

rem Autoexec.bat
@echo off
prompt $p$g
rem Setup CdRom
c:\mscdex.exe /d:mscd0001
mouse.com

rem Config.sys
device=himem.sys
rem Try a universal cdrom drivers
device=c:\v330_11c.sys /d:mscd0001
rem or this
device=c:\oakcdrom.sys /d:mscd0001

If you can't find these cdrom drivers send me an email

That's not too surprising - there are irregularities in the setup posted above (sorry dtech)

Ok - DOS is quite particular - things have to be 'just so' or you'll get errors.
You'd need the DOS driver for your CD drive - oakcdrom.sys usually works (if you have an IDE CD drive) - then you'd have to structure your config.sys & autoexec.bat to load the appropriate files from the hard drive, using their correct locations (path).
Not sure just what's on your HDD, maybe you should go this route:

For what you want, try d/ling a boot disk with CD driver here.

Create the bootdisk by doubleclicking on the d/l'd file, boot with the newly created startup disk and run setup from the CD.

Sorry - I just noticed 'no floppy drive'

Huh

Well... you need to load the CD driver onto your hard drive somehow, but perhaps it's already there. Take a look.

You say you're running "Win9x"

Maybe you could be a bit more specific?
Different options for different versions.
