ok i got a Shuttle AN35(N)-ULTRA/AN35(N)-400 with nForce 2 ULTRA 400 (400) CHIPSET mainboard.
and a AMD Athlan XP 2400+ that runs at 2.0 GHz.
dont know how to over clock it. what should i do? everytime i try to overclick by boosting the fsb it jumps down to a 1800+ running at 1.5 GHz.
if u need any more info just ask

There are 3 versions of the 2400+...two Tbreds & one Thorton...they all run at 2000mhz (15 x 133mhz), but the Thorton is probably locked.

If you're running at 1500mhz, you're apparently going the wrong way with your FSB (15.0 x 100mhz). Don't confuse the FSB numbers...AMD 'double-pumps', so 100mhz = 200FSB, 133mhz = 266FSB, 166mhz = 333FSB, & 200mhz = 400FSB. You didn't say what speed RAM you have...if you have PC2700 (DDR333), try your CPU at 12.0 x 166mhz for a 'base' setting...then try raising the FSB in 3-5mhz increments from there. If you have PC3200 (DDR400), try 10.0 x 200mhz as your base setting. Either way you clock it, you're still running the CPU at 2000mhz, but you'll have the advantage of the faster FSB. Then you can experiment from there...

hmm... i dont have the abbility to set 12.0x or 15.0x or 10.0x and when i put the fsb up too it still changes it to a 1800+. im guessing its auto overclocked. there was a button where it sets optimum settings. its like for best performance. fsb is set to 400mhz... i think thats all i can get out of it.

I think you should take the time to read your motherboard manual...especially the section about the BIOS settings.

Dude, you gotta lower the multiplier! If it doesn't change, you apparently have a Thorton CPU which is locked at 15.0x. Use CPUZ to check what CPU you have & to verify your clock settings:

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Otherwise, I showed you where to change the multiplier in the BIOS...READ THE MANUAL!
